Nashua Chiropractic Care for Spine and Related Musculoskeletal Pain

November 28, 2023

Pain causes us to be a bit self-centered instead of life-centered which is entirely logical and logically global. People globally suffer with pain, back pain, neck pain, musculoskeletal pain, a great deal of which is spine-centered. Luckily, Nashua chiropractic care is locally available to help manage as well as relieve spine-related pain.

Data from a worldwide study that followed spine pain (neck pain and low back pain) sufferers from 1990 to 2019 revealed that the “years lived with disabilities,” incidence, and prevalence of both spine issues grew significantly. Worldwide, neck pain and low back pain were recorded as burdening public health significantly, especially as people age, being most problematic in middle and older aged folks. Data also suggested that these two conditions were more frequent in women and middle-aged groups and more common in higher socioeconomic indexed countries. (1) Not counting low back pain, neck pain, rheumatoid arthritis, or osteoarthritis, the same Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 reported that “other musculoskeletal disorders” increased by 123.4% from 221 million to 494 million people from 1990 to 2019. With over 150 different conditions impacting bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and the spine under the umbrella of “other musculoskeletal disorders,” health loss incorporating death and disability due to musculoskeletal disorders is predicted to keep growing. From 2020 to 2050, it is expected to increase by 115% to 1060 million cases. More women are impacted by 47.4% than men. The prevalence of these disorders topped out between 65 and 69 years of age for both men and women. (2) We at Moriarty Chiropractic take care of all sorts of spine related musculoskeletal disorders as well as back pain and neck pain. Studies like these inspire us to stay current with spine research to help you, our Nashua chiropractic patient, best.

Neck pain and back pain are definitely two of our most common painful spinal conditions at Moriarty Chiropractic…and standing is a daily requisite! Everyone’s spine is a little different. How we each stand is a little different…and that matters! A new study found that bigger variations in lumbar lordosis (spinal curvature) like upright standing posture with a bit more extension or more prominent curvature like kyphosis may well impact musculoskeletal reaction as far as spinal loading and trunk muscle force. (3) We urge our patients to think about good posture which can positively affect your actually having good posture which includes standing up straight.

And sitting is another activity of daily living that we all do often without a second thought (until pain forces us to think about it constantly!). In a new study, researchers found that unsupported sitting increased intradiscal pressure by about 30% in comparison to upright standing. Intradiscal pressures were higher for sitting than standing when back angles were less than 20 degrees and higher for standing than sitting when the angles were more than 20°. Knowing about spinal responses like these are important in the world of occupational health where lumbar musculoskeletal disorders are a big problem. (4) Your Nashua chiropractor works with each of our patients to keep him/her working with as little pain as possible!
