Nashua Anti-inflammatory, Anti-Tumor (and more) Healing with Frankincense and Myrrh

December 27, 2022

Frankincense and myrrh, two esteemed gifts taken from the gum resins of trees - the Boswellia and the Commiphora, respectively – make amazing healing partners! Both have been used throughout history in perfume, incense, aromatherapy, and medicine, particularly Chinese medicine. Their anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antioxidant, and more properties deal with issues with many different health conditions, many that Moriarty Chiropractic sees in our Nashua chiropractic patients who may want to know more!

THE COMBINATION: Frankincense and Myrrh

Chinese medicine esteems frankincense and myrrh for their wide-ranging beneficial health effects. Used in combination, their anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects and significantly for anti-tumor effects prevented growth of U266 multiple myeloma cells. (1) In Chinese medicine, frankincense-myrrh are elements of an anti-tumor drug for a variety of cancers with the newest research revealing its effect on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). How? By regulating pathological processes like cytokine-receptor binding and pathways and affecting the blood vessels that serve tumors in HCC. Tumor volume was reduced, and pathological structure was diminished with frankincense and myrrh treatment. (2) Low dose frankincense/myrrh controlled urotheilial wound healing to help symptoms of acute interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome.  (3) The frankincense/myrrh combo proves itself to be a winning/healing one!

NEUROPATHIC PAIN

Moriarty Chiropractic appreciates combinations of treatments to help our Nashua chiropractic patients seeking healing. Chinese medicine addresses diabetic neuropathy, a serious problem of diabetes and trigger of kidney disease, by regulating pathways involved in the glucose/lipid metabolism regulation, antioxidation, anti-inflammation, anti-fibrosis, etc. (4) Chinese medicine treatment of neuropathic pain commonly involves the frankincense-myrrh combination as it is explained as having the ability to stimulate blood and disperse blood stasis. The combination was put to the test and found to reduce neuropathic pain likely related to neuro-inflammatory agents TLR4 and MyD88 and to averting TRPV1 and inflammatory factor expression. (5). Moriarty Chiropractic knows all this detail may not be your “thing” of wanting to know, but we want to share the whole story if only to highlight how well frankincense-myrrh eases neuropathic pain, a great effect!
