Nashua Pain Relief with Green Tea

April 04, 2024

We need to bring back teatime, a quiet time in the middle of the afternoon to experience a quiet cup of tea away from the bustle of life! (Your Nashua chiropractor would appreciate such a time again!) Teatime was valuable for the mind and spirit and very likely quite good for the body. Today, we just can’t imagine that we have time, but just enjoying tea on the run in an insulated mug on the way to your chiropractic appointment at Moriarty Chiropractic can be beneficial, especially if that tea is green.

In China, drinking tea is part of daily life. That’s a pretty good idea! In evaluating the health benefits of tea and its active ingredients for osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis – common bone and joint diseases bothering many people – researchers found that tea has potential anti-COX (cycolooxygenase) factors and hormone-like effects. They concluded that tea has a vast potential to be helpful in medicine and healthcare especially as the mechanisms of the different types of tea properties are defined as to their synergistic mechanisms. (1) Tea from plants around us offers us a flavorsome way to be healthier and even less painful!

The more we acquire about what nature has for us via medicinal plants, the more we will want to thank nature! Green tea is a common beverage sourced from such medicinal plants. Green tea via several pharmacological activities and antinociceptive effects are proposed to be effective for pain relief because of its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Green tea is explained to be a safe and often effective treatment for pain management owing to its suppression of inflammation and oxidative stress. (2) Green tea’s major component, EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate), is described in the published literature as a valuable anti-inflammatory factor as well as anti-oxidant. Research papers have published how green tea benefits diseases like obesity, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative diseases. Green tea and its EGCG seem to restrain the expression of inflammatory cytokines and inflammation-linked enzymes. The use of green tea potentially enhances the quality of life for inflammatory disease patients without severe adverse side-effects. (3) Back pain and its related spinal pain conditions like leg, arm, and neck pain, etc., typically have inflammatory components with them, so adding green tea for its anti-inflammatory benefit may be an advantage.
